No snakes, reptiles

May 27th 2008 00:05
Snakes alive
Snakes alive

Any time that I plan to travel where things are a bit wild, I wonder if there are any snakes there. Actually, I prefer to be where there are no reptiles at all, except frogs since they eat bugs.

For sure, I don't want to go into the wilds of Africa. Equatorial African areas have lots of snakes. Whether they are dangerous is not important to me. In my mind, any snake is dangerous.

South America has lots of snakes as well. Some of them can squeeze a person to death. If I ever go to South America, I will stay inside city limits and hope no snakes or lizards are there.

Someone told me that there is one continent where there are no snakes and no reptiles at all. Which continent would that be? Asia? North America? Europe? Oh, Australia, right? No.

This is the continent where there are no snakes or reptiles.

No reptiles at all.

There are geckos and larger lizards that eat smaller reptiles to include geckos, small lizards, and snakes. Colubrids (a snake family) eat other snakes, as well. Reptiles aren't all bad.

I thank you for your comment. I realize that some snakes eat other snakes. Growing up in Indiana, I was aware of blacksnakes that my father considered 'good snakes' although I found them somewhat more negative.

Likewise, although I hate spiders, too, I am aware that they do a lot toward controlling 'bad' insects.

what about Ireland? Didn't St. Pat chase them off?

If you buy into that story, he did.

However, the question was which continent has no snakes or reptiles.

Thank you for reading my blog. I really do appreciate it a lot.

Let's read the original blog entry, People! Snakes or reptiles, Artarctica, continent....

Thanks for commenting. If you consider that birds are descendants of dinosaurs, you would be right. Penguins are birds, maybe with dinosaurs as ancestors, in that case, you win & I lose.

Your comments are all in fun, I think, and I appreciate them.

Roger
