What do you know about Britain's largest city?
I will give a few little-known facts about London here. It is a great town. I lived there for a few months and enjoyed it immensely.
Buckingham Palace, which was built in 1702, is on the site of a former infamous brothel. Concerning the Queen (or any King of England), there is one place that she is not allowed to go into. That is the House of Commons; it's because she is not a commoner.
The Underground (subway) in London was the world's first.
Only eight people died in the Great Fire in London in 1666. The fire burned for several days with so little loss of life.
There were more Catholics living in London in 1870, the time of the Irish potato famines, than were living in Rome, the seat of the Roman Catholic Church.
