At 1 am I was sitting in my sons room listening to his croupy cough debating what to do… should I make him get up and steam up the bathroom, move the humidifier closer to his bed, let him sleep in my room.. hummm… as I sat there I ran my hand down my shin and felt a scar. It’s a new scar so the skin feels funny. Very Sensitive. I got this injury when my ex boyfriend took the kids and I camping last month. While I listened to my son cough I couldn’t help but think that scar speaks to how I feel now.
I do love him. It makes me sad to write that. We dated two years. Our problems don’t have to do with how compatible we are, how well we communicate, or our differences in anything. They have to do with his own unresolved issues. In fact, through all of this, the care he's shown for me makes it even harder.
This does not hurt like my divorce, but it does hurt. Shin’s are a sensitive spot.

I haven't been this way before, but I was drawn to your blog name, and then to your writing... so much like my own in An Ordinary Life. Life is anything but that... I'm not a single Mum, but sometimes I could be.
I'm enjoying reading your honesty... Shins are very sensitive and mine have also taken a good dose clobbering ove the years. I'm more careful with them nowadays... I've learnt to respect them more, I guess.
We didn't have the same creative writing professor did we...? Mine used to always say that; Show Me, Don't Tell me...*roaring in my ear...*
